Ray Wold, 64, originally followed his passion for performing and graduated from clown college at the top of his class. He first learned to juggle, but he loved performing so much that he was determined to learn other skills, too, which is when he learned about fire-eating. One night while sitting by his fireplace at home, he worked up the nerve to put fire in his mouth, and the rest is history. Ray toured with Ringling Bros. across the United States, which led to several television appearances and opportunities to travel internationally performing his “Man of Fire” act. Ray then joined Cirque du Soleil and has been performing in their Las Vegas show “O” for more than 24 years. His family has always been supportive of his dreams despite his unconventional path through life. Ray even incorporated his 85-year-old mother into his act for “America’s Got Talent” to create a memory with her that will live on.
