Bio
Malik started playing drums around the age of 5, and at 12 he started on a six-piece drum set playing D.C. go-go music, hip-hop and R&B. In high school, he joined the marching band, which exposed him to a whole new world of percussion. In college, he was a part of Howard University's marching band, and in 2013 he formed his own band D.O.P.E. (Definition of Percussion Entertainment). D.O.P.E. began participating in street performances all around the DMV area and other major cities. Malik has also performed at festivals such as the Charged Up Festival, DC Funk Parade, Broccoli City Festival, Afro Punk, SXSW, A3C and Made in America. He has performed with artists such as as Usher Raymond, Wale, Mike Will Made It, Rae Sremmurd, Backyard Band and D.R.A.M., and is currently collaborating on new projects.
