Gillian Jacobs stars as Britta, the twenty-something dropout with something to prove, in NBC's hit comedy series "Community."
Jacobs can be seen in Mandate's "Seeking a Friend for the End of the World." Marking the directorial debut for Lorene Scafaria who also wrote the script, the film follows Steve Carell and Keira Knightley who embark on a trip to find Carell's lost love set against the backdrop of an asteroid hurtling towards Earth. Jacobs plays a waitress, high on Ecstasy, whom the duo meet on their journey.
More recently, Jacobs worked on several independent films, including Brian Jett's "Let Go" opposite David Denman, "Sin Bin" with Ben McKenzie, and Kathy Lindboe's "NoNAMES," for which Jacobs won the Jury Award for Best Acting Achievement at the 2010 Phoenix Film Festival. Her performance also earned her a nomination for the Christie Digital Award for Best Actress at the 2010 Method Fest. Her other film credits include a starring role in "Helena from the Wedding," opposite Melanie Lynskey which premiered at the 2010 SXSW Festival.
Jacobs appeared opposite Cameron Diaz, James Marsden and Frank Langella in Richard Kelly's film "The Box." Her other feature credits include "Choke" (opposite Sam Rockwell and Anjelica Huston), which premiered at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival and won a Special Jury Prize for Best Ensemble Cast, and as the lead in "Gardens of the Night" opposite John Malkovich and Tom Arnold, which premiered at the 2008 Berlin Film Festival.
Jacob recently appeared off-Broadway at the Public Theater in Philip Seymour Hoffman's "The Little Flower of East Orange," opposite Ellen Burstyn and Michael Shannon. She has also starred in "A Feminine Ending" at the Playwrights Theater and in Adam Rapp's "Cagelove" at the Rattlestick Theater.
Jacobs received her bachelor of fine arts degree at the Juilliard School.
