What is the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting?
Rockefeller Center has been decorating and lighting a massive tree every holiday season since 1933. The tree has always been decked out with a vast array of ornaments (over 50,000 LED lights), and a giant, intricately-designed star placed at the top. In 2022, the tree will be lit every day after the ceremony from 6 a.m. to 12 a.m. ET. On Christmas Day, the tree is lit for 24 hours, and on New Year’s Eve it's lit from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. ET.
