Adam Levine and Blake Shelton's friendship
During their time on The Voice, Levine and Blake Shelton developed a very close friendship filled with playful banter. We recently saw Levine support Shelton at the ladder's induction to the Hollywood Walk of Fame this may, where Shelton platonically gave Levine a smooch on the cheek.
“We’re those two guys you knew in high school where we have this bond that is unexplainable,” Shelton said to US Weekly. “It brings out the best and worst in both of us. It truly is an explosive relationship….and I know every trick to get under his skin.”
Levine and Shelton actually have a lot in common, as they are both dedicated to their families. In 2022, Shelton revealed the the reason he is departing The Voice after 2023 Seasons is that he can spend more time with his three stepchildren, Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo.
“I think being a stepdad has changed my perspective in that I’m not the first person that I think about anymore," Shelton told Access, "Even to the small little things when you go, ‘I think I’ll do this,’ the very next thought is always, ‘Well, wait a minute. How’s that going work?' Or, 'What will they think?' Or, 'How will that affect a schedule?'"
He continued, “I think the only way for me to really do that right is to step away from being committed to something like The Voice that demands a lot of your time. There’s no way around it. If you’re going to do it and do it right, you have to be 150 percent in. And I just feel like those days are behind me for now. I got a more important job."

In 2020, Levine revealed that he had a similar reason for leaving the show. “I was constantly working for so many years. Very lucky, very fortunate, very blessed and all that,” he said to Ellen DeGeneres. “Just to be able to stop in this moment to spend time with my new young family and just have the greatest time ever. Now I’m just, like, a stay-at-home dad. I just stay home and do very little.”
