Adele Had a Relatable Reaction to Meeting The Rock at the Grammys

While Young Rock details the origin story of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, the 2023 Grammys told a slightly different origin tale: the beginning of a beautiful friendship between Johnson and Adele.

In one video posted by the Grammys, Johnson sneaks up on Adele and guests, after which the "Hello" singer sprung up to give Johnson a hug. (The two had never met!)

The Rock made his rounds to shake hands before sitting down to chat with Adele at her table. But the excitement wouldn't end there, especially not for Adele. Johnson had the honor of presenting the Best Pop Solo Performance Award, which went to the "Easy on Me" singer.

“Get up here, best friend," Johnson teased before announcing, "Adele.”

Adele then gave a heartwarming speech, dedicating the award to her son, Angelo. "I wrote this first verse in the shower when I was choosing to change my son's life, and he's been nothing but humble and gracious and loving to me the whole time," Adele said while fighting back tears. 

Like many Young Rock viewers, Adele is a known Dwayne Johnson stan, and the Grammy Awards marked the first time she ever met Johnson. Adele chatted about Johnson in an interview with NikkieTutorials in 2022, speaking about how her wrestling obsession led to her fandom. “Someone I’ve never met, that I think I would actually cry, is The Rock," Adele told the YouTuber. "I was the biggest wrestling fan when I was younger! He sent me flowers because he and his wife couldn’t make it to my show, and literally, I nearly fell off my chair!” 

Alas, this was before Adele crossed paths with Johnson for the Grammys ceremony, where their friendship became a reality. As two powerhouse performers, it's no surprise that Adele and The Rock would instantly vibe. With a new Grammy and a great new friend under her belt, 2023 is already going great for Adele.
