Watch the AGT: Extreme Golden Buzzer Audition That Shocked Travis Pastrana
"I live on stunts, and I've never seen this before," he said.
It takes a lot to stun legendary motocross athlete Travis Pastrana, but Contestant Cyndel Flores did exactly that during the March 7th episode of America's Got Talent: Extreme.
The 23-year-old's nail-biting routine was on the sway pole, a 60-foot tall pole she performed acrobatics on—shortly after a rainstorm. The weather added higher stakes to the already-dangerous stunt; the structure was slippery, meaning Flores had to be precise as she executed aerial tricks (with no tether or net to catch her in case she fell, by the way).
The best part about this? Flores herself confessed she's afraid of heights. But this is AGT: Extreme, after all, and for Flores, it's personal. Both her parents are former daredevils, and she considers her mother to be her "hero."
"The very first time I tried [the sway pole], that was the scariest thing ever," Flores said. "But it was my childhood dream. I wasn't going to let anything stand in my way."
To say Pastrana was impressed is an understatement. He said Flores' performance "took [his] breath away" and quickly awarded her a Golden Buzzer, which advances her straight to the final round.
"I live on stunts, and I've never seen this before. This is exactly why I am so excited to be on this show. To see stuff like this," Pastrana said. "It's not very often that I am shocked and scared. That did all of it."
America's Got Talent: Extreme airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
