America's Got Talent Just Earned an Emmy Nomination
Congratulations are in order!
America's Got Talent earned a 2022 Emmy nomination, the Television Academy announced on Tuesday, July 12. The show earned a nod for Outstanding Lighting Design/Lighting Direction for a Variety Series. Congrats!
AGT has been nominated for nine total Emmys, including Outstanding Technical Direction, Camerawork, Video Control for a Series and Outstanding Hairstyling for a Multi-Camera Series or Special.
The talent competition show is currently in its 17th season, helmed by Judges Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel, Sofía Vergara, and Host Terry Crews.
"Nothing gets redundant, and nothing gets the same," Klum told Access Hollywood in mid-April about her experience filming AGT. "Every day is new and different. I mean, yes, we [the Judges and Host] might be the same, but you see all these crazy, different people on the stage. We're having the best time. I always call it a 'rollercoaster of emotions,' because a person comes and they're singing. The next is an aerialist. The next one is a contortionist or a comedian. Everyone has a story to tell because they're real people. They're not actors. This is not a movie. This is real life. It's always fun to hear the stories...it never gets boring."
And when talking about the current season, Cowell told Access Hollywood there are "Great Golden Buzzers. Acts I've never seen before. It was interesting, the people are interesting, the stories are interesting. The talent's great. I know a lot of people say that, but genuinely, it really, really is. This show, for whatever reason, it does attract really interesting people."
