Bradley Cooper and Jimmy Fallon Look Like Brothers Wearing These Wigs and Visors
Things go off the rails in the hysterical clip of Fallon and the Maestro director.
We've all been there: You get in a giggle fit, and can't stop laughing. But has it ever happened to you on national television?
That was certainly the case during one of Bradley Cooper's visits to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon back in October 2014.
Cooper is a multiple 2024 Academy Award nominee for his Leonard Bernstein biopic, Maestro. The Philadelphia-area native scored nominations for Best Actor, Best Original Screenplay, and Maestro — which Cooper directed — was nominated for Best Picture. While Cooper has been an A-list screen star for years, he's also done theater, including starring in a Broadway revival of The Elephant Man, which landed him a Tony nomination.
In this now classic clip, Cooper sits down to talk about his role in The Elephant Man, based on the tragic real-life story of Joseph Merrick. The main issue, though, is during the conversation Cooper and Fallon are sporting spiky fake hair and wearing visors representing their favorite football teams, the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Jets, respectively.

Though Cooper always has a good time with Host Jimmy Fallon, this appearance might be the most hysterical of them all.

"It was actually the reason I wanted to become an actor. My father showed me this movie when I was a kid," Cooper said, referring to David Lynch's 1980 film, The Elephant Man. "Then I realized there was a play, and I did it for my thesis in grad school, and then I did it in Williamstown two years ago."
"It's a tricky play," responded Fallon.
"It is tricky. Especially because [in] the movie there's prosthetic," Cooper explained, adjusting his visor and adding, "I love that we still have these on. Tell me it doesn't feel good."
"It does actually feel good," Fallon confessed.
"I'm willing to do more crazy stuff," said Cooper. The conversation then turned to their visors and "boy band hair," but it was when Cooper tried to get the interview back on track that things really went off the rails.
"Anyway, [I] went to London, went to see his bones, and it was amazing," said the actor. He tries his best to course correct, but his smooth segue sends Fallon into hysterics, and the rest of the interview is spent trying to get through the conversation with a straight face.

"I love that we're talking about the Elephant Man's bones. We have to reset because we can't use this," said Fallon, trying (unsuccessfully) to stifle his laughter.
In another clip from The Tonight Show, Cooper and Fallon, this time in different visors and wigs, discuss breaking character. Cooper reveals that he never broke while filming The Hangover—but he can't say the same for time spent with Fallon.
