Brian Tee Just Made His Chicago Med Return For This Exciting Reason
Is that Dr. Ethan Choi we see back on the set of Chicago Med?
Brian Tee is back on set for Chicago Med, but fans won't see him in scrubs as Dr. Ethan Choi anytime soon. Instead, Tee is calling the shots off-camera in the director's chair.
If you forget, Tee exited Chicago Med in the Season 8 midseason finale after Choi resigned from the hospital to start a mobile clinic with his partner, April Sexton (Yaya DaCosta). Ethan and April were married in a fairytale ceremony in front of their colleagues and loved ones. Tee's departure was a bitter pill to swallow, but it came with some good news: He would return later in the season to direct Episode 17.
Now that filming has wrapped on Tee's episode, he's taken to Instagram to celebrate his milestone achievement. Tee posted a slideshow of behind-the-scenes photos, beginning with a sweet pic of Tee hugging Nick Gehlfuss and Jessy Schram, who play Dr. Will Halstead and Dr. Hannah Asher in the series, respectively. The Chicago Med crew is back together again!
"That's a wrap... different role, same show. Was an honor and privilege to work with all of you in front and now behind the camera," Tee captioned the heartfelt post. "Much love to the cast and especially the crew for making this such an incredible experience... #OneLastTime. #OneChicago".
The slideshow included a sneak peek into the next episode, where it seems Dr. Halstead will deal with a stressed patient. In the last pic, Tee poses with his personalized clapperboard, solidifying his exciting career update. While he won't return on camera soon, Tee isn't opposed to the idea of returning as Choi someday. Choi and April are still in the city, so it isn't outside the realm of possibility.
“I would never say no. Yeah, if the opportunity arose, absolutely. I feel like I’ve been a part of this family and will remain a part of this family, whether it’s on-screen or off-screen," Tee told Deadline following the announcement of his departure. "So if there’s an opportunity to bring him back, I would absolutely jump right in. For now, it’s just, I’ll see you later. I’ll be back around. You can’t get rid of me."
Watch Chicago Med on NBC Wednesdays at 8/7c and the next day on Peacock.
