All the Times Christina Aguilera Gave Us Chills Singing the National Anthem
Time and time again, this alum of The Voice has used her powerful pipes to expertly nail "The Star-Spangled Banner."
Former The Voice Coach Christina Aguilera (Seasons 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, and 10) can sing the phone book and sound like a goddess. So it's no surprise that she sounds phenomenal singing the U.S. national anthem.
Christina Aguilera singing the national anthem: watch
A fan-made video shows just a few of the many times Aguilera has sung "The Star-Spangled Banner" — and blown everyone away. The first clip of the compilation video, below, shows her nailing the beginning notes when she was just a child, and it then fast-forwards to her riffing her heart out at the 2011 Super Bowl. We then catch a glimpse of her singing the anthem with some jazzy drums and holding a sustained note with gusto before pulling off some impressive growls in the next clips. For the final moment, she hits the impressive high note of the anthem before wrapping everything up with a slick vocal run.
Aguilera's had pipes since the beginning. A 1993 clip, when she was only 12 years old, shows Aguilera absolutely nailing the powerful Whitney Houston tune "I Have Nothing."
Fast-forward to 2023, and Aguilera expertly belted her 2001 hit "Lady Marmalade" with Adam Lambert while onstage at the Pride Island event in New York City.
"Who knew that a friendly ‘have a great show’ text would turn into an invitation to perform with the iconic diva Xtina?! Like many of you know, I’ve been a stan for her since like…. ‘2000!!! I learned how to truly wail listening to her. Thank you Xtina for this surreal moment to celebrate NY Pride!!! I adore you! 💕💕💕" Lambert captioned his Instagram post about the performance.

Like we said, Aguilera was a Coach on The Voice for Seasons 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, and 10. Her vocal talents are so iconic, in fact, that Blake Shelton originally agreed to join The Voice after learning Aguilera would be a Coach, as well.
"I remember asking my manager at the time: I was like, 'Who else is doing this?' And the first name that he said was Christina Aguilera," Shelton revealed in an interview with Access. "I remember going, 'OK I'm in.'"
He continued, "I mean I’ve heard of her. Who am I to say no? I was nobody y’know? And to know that she had already signed on, I was like, 'I want to work at that level, so I’m in.' And thank God, y’know, I didn’t let my stupidity get in the way of what ended up being the best decision maybe I’ve ever made in my life."
