Killing It’s Craig Robinson Teams with Terry Crews for Belting Cover of Vanessa Carlton Classic

Watch The Office and Killing It star Craig Robinson show off his real-life musical chops.

Craig Robinson is probably best known for his comedy chops in series like NBC’s beloved sitcom The Office, or his new hit comedy Killing It on Peacock. But it turns out Robinson also has plenty of musical chops — and he’s not afraid to cut loose with his pal Terry Crews.

How to Watch

The duo teamed up for a duet on NBC’s America’s Got Talent, with Robinson settling in behind the keys of an on-stage piano and starting up a cover of Vanessa Carlton’s 2002 hit “A Thousand Miles,” with AGT's Terry Crews soon joining him by strolling out from the crowd with a mic of his own.

As The Office fans likely already know, Robinson does have some musical skill, and played the keyboard and sang in a few key episodes during the series’ run (who could ever forget their “Dunder Mifflin” jingle about the “people person’s paper people”?). He hasn’t gotten to show off his singing skills much in the first two seasons of Peacock’s Killing It, though his character is staying pretty busy avoiding criminals, catching snakes and trying to get his business off the ground — so he probably has enough on his plate.

Craig Robinson's Peacock comedy Killing It is back for Season 2

The second season of Robinson’s acclaimed Peacock comedy Killing It is streaming now, with Robinson creating a new iconic role as down-on-his-luck father Craig Foster. Season 2 picks up with Craig trying to run a farm, but things go sideways quickly (and hilariously). The first season found Craig trying to get out of debt by hunting and killing snakes, which was just as wild and weird as it sounds. The first two seasons of Killing It are streaming now on Peacock.

Craig Robinson’s breakout role came on NBC’s The Office

Though he’s gone on to star in Killing It, as well as a few other fun shows like the short-lived Ghosted (plus a memorable recurring role as Doug Judy, aka the Pontiac Bandit, on Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Robinson is likely best known among comedy fans for his near-decade run on The Office playing warehouse manager Darryl Philbin. Robinson’s Darryl took on a more prominent role as a series regular in Season 4 of The Office, and he stuck around on the hit comedy all the way until its final season.

The full series run of The Office is streaming now on Peacock, as well as a series of extended “SuperFan” seasons with deleted scenes and extra footage.

Is Craig Robinson a musician in real-life?

Robinson doesn’t just play a musician on TV. In addition to showing off his skills on shows like The Office and America’s Got Talent, Robinson also sometimes plays in the band The Nasty Delicious. Along with Robinson, the band features Robinson’s brother Chris Rob (keyboards), Asa Watkins (drums), David Sampson (guitar), Ethan Farmer (bass guitar), Winston Byrd (trumpet), Bendji Allonce (percussion), and Lakecia Benjamin and Reggie Hines (saxophones).

Along with The Nasty Delicious, Robinson was also a part of the musical comedy act L. Witherspoon & Chucky, alongside fellow comedian Jerry Minor. The group has performed on a variety of comedy and sketch shows over the years.
