Dan + Shay's Voices Sound Heavenly During an Acoustic Version of Their Christmas Song
The festive tune is titled "Pick Out a Christmas Tree."
Country duo Dan + Shay are bringing their own special touch to Christmas this year.
On December 18, The Voice Season 25 Coaches shared and oh-so-smooth acoustic version of their original Christmas tune, "Pick Out a Christmas Tree."
In the clip, Dan Smyers strummed his guitar while Shay Mooney crooned the sentimental lyrics, telling a fond tale of a beloved Christmas tradition that brings family together.
"*Hypothetically speaking (😇)* if we were making a Christmas album, which songs should we put on it? In the meantime, here is a chill acoustic version of “Pick Out a Christmas Tree” to hold you over. 7 days til Christmas! 🎄" the duo festively captioned the video, teasing a potential exciting new project.
"Hypothetically but also very specifically several new originals and a lot of classics 🎅🏽" Smyers not-so-subtly commented.

Dan Smyers on his favorite Christmas tune
While "Pick Out a Christmas Tree" is totally a holiday bop, Smyers has another Christmas song that is close to his heart.
“My favorite Christmas song, I might scare a couple of people away because it’s not a traditional Christmas song, but it’s ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’ by Mariah Carey,” Smyers told Everett Post in a recent interview.
“That song is awesome. Every time you put it on at a party and all your friends are drinking eggnog, ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ [comes on and] every guy does their best to get up and hit those high falsetto notes,” he said. “That song is just the jam. Every time, even if you play it in July, if you play it in September, that’s the best Christmas song I can remember. It gets people fired up and in the spirit every single time you hear it.”

Dan + Shay on reuniting
While the duo certainly mesh perfectly together when it comes to their songwriting talents, Smyers and Mooney actually hit a rift in their musical partnership in 2021, and didn't speak for four months. Luckily, they both came around, and are back to making some awesome music and Coaching together on The Voice soon.
"Being in a duo is the toughest configuration. We always say, there's two people. Everything's 50/50. When you're in a trio, there's always a tie breaker. When you're in a group, its chaos. But in a duo you have to go out of your way to work on it. Like a marriage. And time gets in the way, and if you're not actively working on it, things can go by the wayside," Smyers explained the situation while on TODAY in July.
He continued: "And we just, we chose that one night. We were like, if we're gonna do this, we owe it to our fans. Dan + Shay is always gonna be a tattoo on somebody's arm, a first dance at somebody's wedding, and we owe it to everybody to give it our best shot. We sat down, we started writing songs, just hanging out like we used to when we first met, and that's where the magic was."
