This Days of Our Lives Star Had a Cameo In Magnum P.I. You May Have Missed
The longtime soap star jumped from NBC favorite to another.
The new Magnum P.I. has had a slew of awesome guest stars across its five-season run, including Lee Majors, Brian Austin Green, Ken Jeong, Cydni Lauper, and more. But in a early Season 5 episode, there is another familiar face you may have recognized from your favorite NBC soap opera: Shawn Christian.
Who is Shawn Christian?
Shawn Christian is an actor who is best known for his major role as Dr. Daniel Jonas in the long-running NBC soap opera Days of Our Lives. (Which you can now watch on Peacock. He played the role for a whopping 12 years, from 2008 to 2020, before his character was suddenly killed in a tragic car accident. He also played Miles Henderson in a Season 7 episode of Chicago Med titled "Anything Can Happen."
In an interview with SheKnows, Christian discussed the emotional process behind playing his character.
"I think, with the perspective of a surgeon and an adrenaline junkie like Daniel is in general, it brings you back down to Earth and grounds you. Those moments when the thing you worked for your whole life is taken out from underneath you. And surgeons really run at a high level. And I think for Daniel, he thrives on life or death situations. It is like a life force for him. So even if it is danger in his whole personal life, it is probably why he finds himself in so many precarious situations," he told the outlet.
"I am not doing any surgery, but I consult. The hand may be weakened but the mind still thrives. And the hand, it is not as if it is addressed completely, but the back story is that he has traveled the world and explored some alternative healing methods and occasionally I will massage it as a form of showing this is something he went through, one of his demons, but we are not really addressing it in the story line but I try to stay true to some of the history of his character," he added.
Who did Shawn Christian play on Magnum P.I.?
A versatile actor, Christian played a much different type of character this time around. Christian starred in the second episode of the fifth season, titled "The Breaking Point", which aired on February 19. He played the role of Cole Graham, a lifeguard working at a beach near Robin's Nest. Magnum and Higgins went undercover to investigate the suspicious death of one of Graham's employees. (Spoiler alert: Graham was not the good guy).
