Stabler Is Always So Hilariously Shady to His Kids on SVU: See Video Proof
The detective surely knows what's best for his children.
With everything that detective Elliot Stabler (Chris Meloni) has seen while on the Special Victims Unit and Organized Crime Control teams, it's no wonder that he'd be a super protective father.
Stabler has five children with his now-deceased wife, Kathy: Maureen, Kathleen, twins Richard "Dickie" and Elizabeth "Lizzie," and Elliot Stabler Jr. Throughout his run on SVU, we've seen a slew of moments of him being super strict when it comes to parenting his kids, but not without messing with them in the process.
Some highlights? In one moment, Stabler snatches a phone out of his youngest son's hands.
''You ever heard of privacy?'' Elliot Jr snaps.
''You ever heard of manners?'' Stabler quips.
We also get to see Stabler having a meaningful conversation with Elizabeth as he gives her a ride.
''You're such a cop,'' Elizabeth says.
''Just wait til you have kids,'' Stabler retorts with a sigh.
Then, in another sweet moment, the twins bring him over a present at his workplace.
''This is the best present a guy's ever had'' Stabler says before giving them a big hug.

In another episode, Kathleen storms into her father's workplace.
''Dad! You had my boyfriend arrested, what the hell?'' she says sternly.
''What are you talking about?'' Stabler asks.
''Tony didn't steal your credit card! I had to buy some books for school, so I borrowed it when I was home on Sunday,'' Kathleen responds.
''You didn't buy any books! You never told me you had a boyfriend!'' Stabler says, his paternal instincts kicking in.

Chris Meloni as an IRL dad
Meloni has two children, 22-year-old Sophia and 20-year-old Dante, who he shares with his wife, Sherman Williams. Meloni frequently documents the bonding time he spends with his kids, including going hiking with Sophia, and sharing a heartfelt tribute to Dante on his birthday.

In a 2014 interview with USA Today, the actor opened up about his parenting style.
“I think my kids would call me a little crazy. I’m very physical, very affectionate. I’m also very disciplined and focused on education. That’s one thing that was instilled in me, one place in life where there’s no compromise,” he told the outlet. “What works for me is empowering my kids. I remember not having any power when I was growing up. Power helps kids mature, and it requires critical thinking on their part. They feel engaged in a decision, which makes them feel engaged in the family process.”
