Stand Up to Cancer is back with another heartwarming special.
For the uninitiated, Stand Up to Cancer (SU2C) "funds and develops the newest and most promising cancer treatments to help patients today," per the organization's website. "SU2C dramatically accelerates the rate of new discoveries by connecting top scientists in unprecedented collaborations to create breakthroughs. SU2C innovations lead to better cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment, which means that we can help save lives now." One hundred percent of donations received support Stand Up to Cancer and its collaborative cancer research programs.
“We started this movement in 2008 to save lives and it is remarkable to see that in 15 years our scientists have accomplished this goal through breakthrough research that intercepts and treats cancer in ways we never thought possible,” said Katie Couric, SU2C co-founder, per Deadline. “There is more work to do to cure cancer and every dollar counts; we will not stop until we make every cancer patient a long-term survivor.”
Every other year, Stand Up to Cancer has aired a televised special to aid its fundraising efforts — and this year the organization celebrates 15 years of service. The 2023 Stand Up to Cancer special airs Saturday, August 19 at 8/7c. It will simulcast across several networks and streaming services, including NBC and Peacock.

Stars set to appear include Elizabeth Banks, Jessica Biel, Don Cheadle, Katie Couric, Danai Gurira, Tony Hale, Ken Jeong, Maria Menounos, Julianne Moore, Tig Notaro, Jimmy Smits, Eric Stonestreet, and Justin Timberlake.
In addition to this, a montage of skits from past Stand Up to Cancer specials will feature Jack Black, Ben Falcone, Zach Galifianakis, Brad Garrett, Bill Hader, Jon Hamm, Kevin Hart, Ed Helms, Melissa McCarthy, and Matthew McConaughey.
