Artist Ari Camille may have narrowly lost her Battle round on Season 27 of The Voice, but she still managed to come out on top, getting not one but two potential Steals from Coaches. Here's what happened and who she picked:

How to Watch

Watch The Voice on Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

For the Battle round, Camille was paired up with singer Bryson Battle for a duet of Muni Long's "Made For Me." In rehearsals, Camille was thrilled to meet Team (John) Legend Battle Advisor Coco Jones, as she's a singer and actress just as Camille wants to be.

After the performance, Battle narrowly beat Camille with his gorgeous voice. But the Coaches had nothing but praise for her performance, with Adam Levine in particular pointing out that he'd tried to get her during the Blind Auditions. When she became available, Levine immediately pushed his button to steal her, though Kelsea Ballerini put up a challenge, pressing her button, too. It was a battle within the Battle round: Kelsea vs. Adam. And Adam won, with Camille joining Team Levine.

Battle couldn't have been happier that his Battle opponent got a Steal and a chance to stay on the show. The two clearly bonded during rehearsals, and Camille even gave a peek into their friendship on Instagram, where she posted some behind the scenes snaps and a short video of Battle goofing off in her car (check out the eighth slide, here).

"I’m so excited I get to share so many memories with y’all now, and best believe there’s more to come! I was so nervous waiting for this to come out cause chile that’s a lot of eyeballs, and this period of life has revealed so many things and pushed me in multiple ways, but overall I’m very grateful," Camille wrote as the episodes began to air.

How did John Legend get his stage name?

Legend explained the origins of his stage name during a March 2021 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. "Well, it was a nickname that some friends started calling me in the studio, just guys that I was collaborating with," Legend told host Jimmy Fallon. "The first guy to call me that was J. Ivy...He just started calling me 'The Legend' because he thought I sounded like one of our old-school soul legends. And it just caught on with our little group of friends, and then they were like, 'We should call you John Legend.'"

You can watch The Voice Season 27 on Mondays at 8/7c on NBC. New episodes are available to stream the next day on Peacock.
