The Voice Season 23 Winner Gina Miles revisited her original Blind Audition song this week — and managed to blow it out of the water once again.

How to Watch

Watch the Season 27 premiere of The Voice on Monday, February 3 at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

On a cover posted to her official Instagram page, Miles strummed her acoustic guitar and sang "The One That Got Away" by Katy Perry in a deep, rich tone. She pulled off some heavenly vocal flips and crooned with passion before wrapping things up with some soft gentle notes.

Gina Miles performs her Audition song for The Voice — again!

"The One That Got Away" by Katy Perry is clearly the perfect song for Miles' voice, which is why she chose to sing it for her Blind Audition in Season 23. During her performance, she received chair turns from Coaches Kelly Clarkson and Niall Horan. When Miles began to talk to the room, Clarkson was surprised that Miles' vocal tone was so powerful yet her speaking voice was rather soft.

“I’m not super crazy confident normally, but when I sing, I’m a very different person. A lot of people are shocked by the contrast of my singing voice and my normal voice,” Miles explained. “I really have spent a lot of time trying to hone in on a sound for myself and I really enjoy expressing confidence in that way,” she added.

Horan was more than impressed by Miles's persona and bravery. “I love voices with so much like character, like you’ve got,” he told her. “That was incredible to see you get up there and really hit those notes with proper control. Like, for such a young girl, it’s incredible.”

He also compared her experience with his own as a Contestant on The X Factor. “I can see you holding the mic with like two hands because I used to be, like, barely able to go on stage, gripping the mic stand, holding onto the mic like you were doing right now, and you’re going to grow into this competition,” he said. “[I] feel like you’ve got so much more to give. This is very exciting.”

Miles ended up choosing Team Niall, which ended up working out well for her, as she unsurprisingly won Season 23. In an interview with NBC Insider, Horan opened up about why he chose to turn his chair for Miles during her Blind Audition.

"There's nothing better than hearing a very individual voice," he told us. "Hearing something that you've never heard before, that really gets you and gives you goose bumps... I'm glad I went with waiting for someone that, like, actually gave me goose bumps. I think that's something that I'll take into next season because they're out there."
