What Will the Winners of Hot Wheels™: Ultimate Challenge Receive?

The contestant who wins NBC's Hot Wheels™-inspired competition show will have a unique reward to brag about.

By Megan Carpentier

Hot Wheels™: Ultimate Challenge isn't your typical competition show — and the grand prize that contestants will receive is pretty atypical as well.

How to Watch

Watch Hot Wheels™: Ultimate Challenge on NBC.

In each episode of the show, two Hot Wheels™ superfans — Luidgi Aldator, Rob Anders, Felix Arguelles, Angela Arnold, Michael Cooney, Jadejha Edwards, “Jersey” Jim Farrell, Arushi Garg, Nick Harrison, Aldavid Jimerson, Caroline Johnson, Terri Jones, Kevin Lister, Kris Parker, Lauren Partin, and Sheilah Spencir — are paired up with one another to transform a car from their own past into a real-life, full size Hot Wheels-inspired vehicle.

They'll get help from "The Car Pool" of automotive experts in their tricked-out transformation journeys, which include turning a car into a motorized skateboard ramp and even "the biggest, the baddest funeral van that’s ever existed," as seen in the trailer above.

At the end of each of the first eight weeks, the winning contestant will take home a $25,000 prize and a chance to make it to the finale by impressing host Rutledge Wood, Ford Motor Company designer Dalal Elsheikh, car culture influencer Hertrech “Hert” Eugene Jr., and a celebrity guest judge, who will determine the winner together.

Only three of the eight contestants who advance actually get to compete for the grand prize in the competition's finale. But the three who do will have to transform yet another automobile for the judges to assess.

Whomever wins the finale will not only go home with another $50,000 but they — and everyone else — will be able to purchase the official Hot Wheels die-cast version of the car they created for the finale.

“Hot Wheels is a legendary brand with broad appeal that has created a space for imaginations to run free," Corie Henson, EVP of unscripted programming for NBCUniversal Television and Streaming. "We are so thrilled to partner with Mattel to combine this nostalgia with fantastical, extreme car transformations."
