Gwen Stefani has many titles: veteran Coach on The Voice, founding member of No Doubt, fashion designer, and mom to Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo.

How to Watch

Watch The Voice on Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

In the years since she first became a mother, the “Just a Girl” singer and Grammy winner has opened about juggling her demanding career with raising a family, and just how much she adores her sons. For instance, during a 2021 interview on DJ Khaled’s podcast The First One, Stefani opened up about how “incredible but really hard” balancing it all can be. “I don’t take it lightly and I’m so grateful that I have them, and I got to have three boys," Stefani said.

So what else has Stefani shared about raising her boys? Read on to learn all about her sweet family, her husband Blake Shelton’s relationship with his stepsons, and more.

How many kids does Gwen Stefani have?

Stefani is a proud mom of three sons: Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo.

The "Don't Speak" singer welcomed all three of her sons with her ex-husband, British musician and Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale.

All about Gwen Stefani's son Kingston

Stefani’s first child, Kingston James McGregor Rossdale, was born on May 26, 2006. At the time, TODAY reported that Stefani arrived at the hospital “wearing her signature red lipstick.”

Not long after his birth, Stefani told People that motherhood was “the best thing” that’s ever happened to her. “He is just … a miracle. The whole thing … in the stomach, coming out, and then they’re … a human. It’s just weird, it’s incredible,” she said.

Kingston has been exposed to his parents’ musical professions since he was a baby, joining his mom on tour when he was just 9 months old, as Stefani told People“I would have to nurse him and then get on stage, and then come off and he would twirl my ponytail," she shared.

Now 18 years old, Kingston is already exploring a music career. In 2023, he performed live at Shelton’s Ole Red restaurant in Oklahoma. And in 2024, per Hello!, Kingston revealed that he’d gotten a tattoo of a “custom drawn panther.”

All about Gwen Stefani's son Zuma

Stefani gave birth to her second son, Zuma Nesta Rock Rossdale, on August 21, 2008. Zuma weighed just over 8 pounds when he was born, the singer’s publicist told TODAY at the time.

Like his big brother, Zuma has also shown an interest in music. When he was just 15 years old, he made his country music debut at Shelton’s Oklahoma bar as he strummed on the guitar and sang the lyrics to Zach Bryan’s songs "Oklahoma Smokeshow" and "Revival."

To celebrate Zuma’s 16th birthday in 2024, Stefani posted a sweet video montage on social media, full of sweet family photos. “Happy Sweet 16, Zuma!!” she captioned the post. “We love u SO much!!”

Zuma’s Sweet 16 was made even more special when Shelton gifted his stepson his late father’s truck. “At the ranch there was an old truck that was Blake’s dad’s. And his dad has passed, but it was sitting there, no dashboard, rusted apart…[Zuma's] been begging for that truck for like, years,” Stefani shared on The Jennifer Hudson Show. “He ended up getting the truck last year. Blake gave it to him, put a dashboard in.”

All about Gwen Stefani's son Apollo

Stefani’s youngest son, Apollo Bowie Flynn Rossdale, was born on February 28, 2014. Apollo’s two middle names are actually a tribute to his grandmothers. “Bowie and Flynn = [our] mothers’ maiden names,” Rossdale tweeted at the time, per Us Weekly

About a decade after Apollo’s birth, Stefani opened up on The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Show about how her pregnancy with her third child was a “miracle.”

“I was like, ‘I’m too old. I’m not having any more babies. I’m sorry, love,'" Stefani recalled telling her oldest son, Kingston, several years ago. “He just wanted a baby, so he would start praying every night for this baby. Four weeks later, praying every night like, ‘Please, let my mom have a baby,' and I'm pregnant with Apollo."

"I'm like 43 years old, and it's this true miracle,” she continued. “And every time I would go the doctor, I was like, ‘He’s gonna say this is not gonna work out,’ and every time he’d be like, ‘Looking great.’”

Now 11 years old, Stefani still calls Apollo her “sweet angel baby,” as she did on his birthday in 2025.

Blake Shelton “can’t imagine” his life without his stepsons

Kingston Rossdale, Apollo Bowie Flynn Rossdale, Blake Shelton, and Gwen Stefani appear at an event.

When Shelton and Stefani got married in 2021, the “Austin” country star officially became a stepfather to his wife’s sons. And it’s a role he “can’t imagine” his life without. During a 2021 radio interview with The Ride with Kimo & Heather, Shelton opened up about the challenges and joys of becoming a parent.

"There's definitely nothing easy about it. I don't know if it's as hard or harder or not as hard as being an actual biological parent, you know?" Shelton said, sharing that he thinks of his own stepfather as “one of my heroes.”

“I take it very serious,” Shelton added of being a stepfather. “But I also have a blast with it, I'm not going to lie. I don't take it so serious that I'm not enjoying this time because I really am, especially now that we're five years into this thing. I can't imagine my life without these kids now.”

Being a stepdad is a major reason why Shelton decided to leave The Voice after being a Coach for 23 straight seasons.

“I think being a stepdad has changed my perspective in that I’m not the first person that I think about anymore," he told Access Hollywood in January 2023. "Even to the small little things when you go, ‘I think I’ll do this,’ the very next thought is always, ‘Well, wait a minute. How’s that going work?' Or, 'What will they think?' Or, 'How will that affect a schedule?'"

“I think the only way for me to really do that right is to step away from being committed to something like The Voice that demands a lot of your time," he continued. "There’s no way around it. If you’re going to do it and do it right, you have to be 150 percent in. And I just feel like those days are behind me for now. I got a more important job."

Nowadays, Shelton is spending lots of quality time with his family. In April 2025, Shelton, Stefani, and her two youngest sons vacationed in the Ozarks where explored the outdoors, drove golf carts, and ate delicious food together.
