Henry Hager Fully Did the "Walk of Shame" Out of the White House: "Honey..."
It was a live TV moment for the ages!
Jenna Bush Hager welcomed her husband Henry to the world of TODAY with Jenna & Friends in a memorable way — by wholly putting him on the spot on his first day on the job!
As his wife's official guest co-host for the fourth hour of TODAY to close out the week, Henry Hager knew there'd be some first-day jitters, but he never expected her to put him on blast quite like this. While the happy couple was reminiscing about their early relationship moments in Washington, D.C. during the March 27 episode, Jenna threw Henry a curve ball that he didn't expect:
"I remember our first kiss, I'm just gonna come out and say it," Jenna told him. "It was to Lil' Troy, a song we can't say on TV. Lil' Troy was a rapper back in the day. We were dancing and all of a sudden, you shot your shot."
"I mean, well, I don't think you can say that on the 10 a.m. hour of television, but, I went in for the kiss," Henry said, unaware that you can say the common phrase "shoot your shot" on TV.
"You can say that," Jenna shot back with a smile. "You can't say — what happened later, you can leave off."
"That didn't happen," Henry said, trying to deescalate the hilarious situation playing out on live TV. The two had started dating when Jenna's father, former President George W. Bush, was in office.
But it was too late — Jenna had her blushing husband right where she wanted him. "You didn't do the walk of shame out of the White House?" she asked cheekily.
Henry's face said it all — he was mortified. Jenna, on the other hand, was delighted at her husband squirming in the hot seat!
After a few seconds, only one word came out of his mouth.
"Honey…" he said, trailing off as the crew laughed at the awkwardness.
It was all in good fun, of course. Still, the couple's trip down memory lane ultimately gave viewers an unforgettable mental image of Henry walking out of the White House many years ago doing possibly the most epic walk of shame that's ever been done.
Jenna Bush Hager had the cutest Secret Service code name while living in the White House
Jenna and her family lived in the White House from 2001 to 2009, and during a memorable 2020 appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, she dished on some Washington, D.C. secrets — including her Secret Service code name.
Every person under the watchful eye of the Secret Service is given a code name that is used over radio frequencies to protect their identity, and Jenna was no different. "My code name was Twinkle," she told Andy Cohen. "I take that as a compliment."
The secret code name came up again during a visit to the White House later in her life — this time in front of her current colleagues. "When we went back to the White House with the TODAY show peeps, we walked in and they were like, 'Twinkle, welcome home,'" she recalled. "And everybody was like, 'Twinkle?'"
