Before joining this season's tough fight, Chance the Rapper, whose given name is Chancelor Bennett, had been in plenty of musical competitions on his own. Chance has been nominated for over 60 prestigious musical awards, from the Billboard Music Awards to MTV Video Music Awards. He was even nominated for a 2017 Emmy Award for a Saturday Night Live song he co-wrote.

All of those hard-earned nominations resulted in quite a few wins, too, including three Grammy Awards and the prestigious iHeart Radio Innovator Award in 2018 (which was awarded to Taylor Swift in 2023).

Chance the Rapper Won Three Grammys in 2017

The first year for Chance the Rapper was nominated at the Grammys was 2017, after the release of his mixtape Coloring Book. He was nominated in a whopping seven different categories, including Best Rap/Sung Performance for "Ultralight Beam," Best Rap Song for "Ultralight Beam," Best Rap Song for "Famous," and Best Rap Song for "No Problem."

The rapper ended up taking home three awards that night: Best Rap Album for Coloring Book, Best Rap Performance for "No Problem," and Best New Artist for Coloring Book.

The Best New Artist Award was especially notable because Chance was the first male rap solo artist to ever win the award. That year, he also became the first streaming-only artist to win a Grammy, according to the Grammys official site.

Chance the Rapper 2019 Grammy Nomination

Three years later, the rapper was nominated for "Best Rap Song" for the song "Bad Idea," which he co-wrote and performed with the artist Cordae. The song appeared on Cordae's 2019 album The Lost Boy which was also nominated for Best Rap Album

Cordae and Chance reportedly had hit it off at Coachella together, leading to their collaboration. "Every feature came about extremely naturally," Cordae told Billboard. "The vibes got to come together super naturally and everybody had a marquee verse."

Chance the Rapper's 2022 Grammy Nomination

Chance was nominated for another star-studded collaboration at the 2022 Grammy Awards. That time, the artist paired with Justin Bieber on his album Justice (Triple Chucks Deluxe), which was nominated for Album of the Year.

Chance and Bieber have a long history of working together, starting with their 2013 song "Confident". Four years later, the two were featured alongside Lil Wayne and Quavo on DJ Khaled's hit single "I'm the One." This all led up to the duo's hit song "Holy," which was part of Bieber's Grammy-nominated record.

In and Instagram post with a clip from the song's official music video, Chance called "Holy" "the beginning of a new era for all of us." He said, "I made one of my most important songs with one of my most supportive friends and I really want y'all to hear it tonight when it drops."

Catch Chance on The Voice, Mondays at 8/7c and Tuesdays at 9/8c on NBC and the following day on Peacock.
