See Why Howie Mandel Says The Mayyas 'Shook Him to His Core' During the Live Shows
The dance troupe is officially going to the AGT Finals.
The Mayyas can officially call themselves America's Got Talent Finalists. The Lebanese dance crew, alongside theatrical pole dancer Kristy Sellars, were the Top 2 Acts voted to advance to the AGT Finals, airing September 13. The other nine Acts who competed during their episode were eliminated; however, a previously-eliminated Act, ventriloquist Celia Munoz, was voted in the AGT Save to also advance to the Finals. That makes 11 Acts total competing in the AGT Finals—and only one will emerge victorious.
And that Act could be The Mayyas, whose dance routine in the Live Shows earned top praise from the Judges. Simon Cowell said it was a "performance that changes the world." Sofía Vergara, who awarded The Mayyas a Golden Buzzer during the Auditions, said she wished she could give them another Golden Buzzer. And Heidi Klum said the group was "Vegas-ready."
But the highest praise perhaps came from Howie Mandel, who told NBC Insider The Mayyas' performance "shook him to his core."
"I see a lot [of entertainment]," Mandel says. "And not just because I do this job. Even when I'm not here, I live on TikTok and YouTube and Snapchat. My TV's on 24/7, and I'm watching things that aren't even in English, and I don't know what I'm watching, but I'm fascinated. I go to clubs; when I'm in Vegas, I see every show. I just love watching people perform. So when I see an Act like The Mayyas, it just blows me away. I feel like I was shaken to my core seeing an Act like that."
