Is Law & Order New Tonight? (March 21, 2024)
Law & Order fans are eager to learn more about new District Attorney Nicholas Baxter, but will there be a new episode this week?
Nicholas Baxter may be new to his post, but the politically-connected district attorney is already ruffling some feathers on Law & Order.
Fans are eager to find out what additional changes Baxter, played by Scandal’s Tony Goldwyn, has in store for the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office after officially being sworn in to the job in Episode 7 of Season 23.
But will viewers get a new episode this week or will they have to wait a bit to find out more about the new DA?

Is Law & Order New Tonight, Thursday, March 21?
Yes, fans can expect an all-new episode of the crime procedural on Thursday, March 21 at 8/7c p.m. on NBC. Season 23, Episode 8 is titled "Facade."
The new episode will see Baxter settling into his new role as DA, while Executive Assistant District Attorney Nolan Price (Hugh Dancy) and Assistant District Attorney Samantha Maroun (Odelya Halevi) adjust to having a new boss.
Baxter was appointed to the new post after long-time District Attorney Jack McCoy (Sam Waterston) said goodbye in an emotional episode that aired on February 22. McCoy opted to tender his resignation after pursuing the prosecution of a high-profile rapist and murderer, against the mayor’s wishes.
After stepping into the courtroom one last time to deliver a powerful summation that sent the killer to prison, McCoy decided to walk away from his post to spare the DA’s office from any fallout from his decision, but not before remarking that it had been a “hell of a ride.”
In Baxter’s inaugural episode, fans learned that the new leader of the DA’s office has a “political dynasty pedigree,” as Maroun called it, with an uncle who is a U.S. Senator and a father who is a personal pal of former President Bill Clinton. He’s also made it clear he intends to mend the fractured relationship with the mayor’s office and wants to “get people back on the same page.”

Before making his way to the DA’s office, Baxter worked for the U.S. Attorney’s Office, where he was well-liked by his colleagues.
It’s too early to tell how he’ll be received at the DA’s office, but there was already some clear tension between Baxter and Price when the two attorneys disagreed on how to proceed in a complicated case in Episode 7 of Season 23. We’ll have to wait and see whether the two settle into a healthy working relationship or if the tension continues.
