Is There A New Dateline on Tonight? (February 21, 2025)

Yes! A new episode of Dateline airs on Friday, February 21, at 9/8c on NBC. 

In Friday’s two-hour episode — ”A Walk Through the Woods” — Dateline’s Andrea Canning reports on the 2017 murders of Abby Williams, 13, and Libby German, 14, also known as the Delphi murders. 

“The murders of teenagers Abby and Libby in their close-knit hometown of Delphi, Indiana spark worldwide headlines,” a synopsis for the episode reads. “The high-profile case takes a stunning twist after detectives reveal Libby captured a video of the killer shortly before her death — a crucial piece of evidence that helps police track down the murderer.” 

In December 2024, several years after the girls’ bodies were found, Richard Allen was found guilty of killing Libby and Abby and received the maximum sentence of 130 years in prison, NBC News reports. 

Dateline’s new episode features interviews with family members as well as Delphi Sheriff Tony Liggett, who says in a preview that he believes Allen “followed them across” the Monon High Bridge Trail as the girls went for a walk in the woods. Canning also speaks with the defense attorneys for the convicted killer.

"Even 30 years later, it's still hard to fathom how a mother could do something like that to two little boys. People will never forget that case,” NBC News’ Craig Melvin told NBC Insider.
