Jacob Elordi Had the Greatest Nightclub Interaction With Leonardo DiCaprio

DiCaprio gave Elordi, who is hosting Saturday Night Live on January 20, the ultimate compliment.

By Elizabeth Logan

Imagine you meet one of the most famous and successful people in your industry...only to find out they're a fan of yours. That's what happened to Jacob Elordi, the Euphoria star who is hosting Saturday Night Live on January 20 for the first time. Appearing in both Priscilla and Saltburn this year, Elordi is poised to be a major breakout A-lister, not to mention a heartthrob, so it makes sense that he'd run into another handsome leading man: Leonardo DiCaprio. And you'll never guess which of Elordi's projects Leo loves...

How to Watch

Watch The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on NBC weeknights at 11:35/10:35c and next day on Peacock

Jacob Elordi's run-in with Leonardo DiCaprio

Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Elordi revealed the most "unexpected" fan of Euphoria, a show about high schoolers' dramatic lives. "The biggest one is Leonardo DiCaprio, which sounds like a crazy name drop and it is a crazy name drop," the actor told Fallon.

Elordi then told the story of how he and the Titanic star found themselves discussing the show at the oddest of venues. "Leonardo DiCaprio, he came up in a club one time when I was much younger," he said. "We’re in this club and there’s really loud music and everything and he’s like, ‘The shot in the first season, the shot where you came in,’ and then it’s him and I in the middle of this club, talking about camera angles."

In case anyone doubts DiCaprio's sincerity, note he's gone on the record about Euphoria multiple times. In 2019, he mentioned the HBO series as one he'd been enjoying recently, and in 2022, he was filmed congratulating Elordi on the show at a Met Gala after party.

Jacob Elordi's SNL debut

Elordi revealed that he was nervous about his upcoming SNL stint because, even though he had experience performing live, he'd never been pegged as the "funny" guy. But in the promo for his episode, he definitely commits to physical comedy. The clip finds him unable to walk down the three short steps onto the platform where he will deliver the monologue, trying at various points to scoot down and crawl down, totally psyching himself out.

Eventually, he approaches the stairs with confidence, but trips and face-plants. Cast members Punkie Johnson and Marcello Hernandez, who had been coaching him, quickly scurry away. Hey, we all have our talents.
