Jenna Bush Hager's Husband Thought He Was Being Pranked When Her Water Broke
The TODAY with Jenna & Friends co-host and her twin sister, Barbara, hilariously weren't able to convince Henry Hager of the truth.
The story of how Jenna Bush Hager's oldest child, Mila, was born is one of the most "Jenna" things ever!
During a February episode of TODAY with Jenna & Friends alongside guest co-host Ego Nwodim, Hager explained how she realized she was going into labor. Not only did it happen the same day she took a SoulCycle class, but her husband, Henry Hager, refused to believe her when she told him what was happening!
"On the day my first child was born — she was very early — and I went to a SoulCycle class — she was very early!" Hager said.
"And you were nine months pregnant?" asked a stunned Nwodim.
"I was… 8.5," Hager said. "She came 35-and-a-half weeks or something."
However, Mila was coming early enough that Henry did not believe his wife's water broke during her baby shower later that day, even after he got the news from her twin sister, Barbara, over the phone!
"Those sisters have played pranks on me, I'm not falling for it," Hager recalled him saying.
Yup — Henry really thought he was being pranked, and he didn't buy it whatsoever!
As it turned out, it took a phone call from a TODAY producer, Kerri, and her husband, who was with Hager that day, to convince Henry that Hager was actually going to the hospital and having the baby. Luckily, Henry trusted them enough to believe it, and that's all the proof he needed to make his way to be by his wife's side.
"He trusts Kerri more than you!" exclaimed Nwodim.
"And I basically trust Kerri more than I trust myself," Hager quipped.
Jenna Bush Hager reveals the key to a successful relationship
Hager and Henry have been happily married since 2008, and during a late January episode of TODAY with Jenna & Friends, Hager revealed to her guest co-host — current Voice Coach Kelsea Ballerini — what she believes is one of the keys to a successful relationship.
"Part of it is choosing the right person because they make you feel — they're supportive, but they also make you feel like you're doing what you're supposed to be doing because then you can do it well," Hager explained.
Of course, Ballerini knows something about successful relationships, too. The 31-year-old has been dating actor Chase Stokes for over two years — and counting!
