Jennifer Morrison Reveals What She Really Thinks About Kevin's This Is Us End Game
Kevin ended up with Sophie—so what does the actress who played Cassidy think?
One of the biggest questions going into This Is Us Season 6 was who Kevin (Justin Hartley) ends up with, and eventually, fans got an answer: Sophie (Alexandra Breckenridge). For a while, though, fans thought Cassidy (Jennifer Morrison) could be Kevin's end game. After all, they developed a rock-solid friendship, helped each other through their sobriety, and at one point, Kevin told Cassidy she was the only person outside his family he really cared about. But in the end, his first love wound up being his last.
So, what does Morrison think about that? In a new interview with Awards Watch, she said, "I definitely felt like if I were in Dan's [Fogelman, the show creator] shoes, I would want to bring the show back around to the first love. It just feels like such a great completion to that cycle."
That being said, Morrison revealed she "definitely rooted" for Cassidy. "I felt like there was a real joy in the way that those characters activated each other," she said. "They were so brutally honest with each other. There was no filter between them. And in that honesty, it felt like [Kevin] would push Cassidy to change, and Cassidy would push him to change. It was exciting to see people grow because of the way that they challenged each other."
Hartley said something similar to NBC Insider this spring about Kevin and Cassidy's relationship. "They’re definitely good friends," he said. "They care for each other. They love each other. But on the level that they end up loving each other, that’s something we’ll have to wait and see."
Well, we did wait and see, and now we know Kevin and Cassidy settled into best-friend territory.
