John Legend Gets Honest About Why He Stole Ian Harrison From Gwen Stefani
Harrison's rendition of Billie Eilish's "Happier Than Ever" left the Coach more-than impressed.
Alyssa Witrado may have won the Battle against Ian Harrison for a spot on Team Gwen—but in the end, the Columbus native was offered a second chance.
After Witrado and Harrison's edgy Battle performance of Billie Eilish's "Happier Than Ever" on The Voice, John Legend stepped in and used his Steal of the season on Harrison. While the Coach thought both performers were "freaking cool," he jumped at the chance to have Harrison's impressive voice on Team Legend. It also didn't hurt that they're from the same home state.
"Ian, I love that depth in your voice," he said. "It is just so, like, full and has so much presence. It felt like the song wasn't too big for you. You were there to dominate the song... Ian's from my hometown, my home area, and it's time to come on home, man. I really love your voice, and I loved you in the Blinds, and I would love to have you on my team."
Earlier in the episode, which aired October 24, Legend offered insight into what would motivate him to use his Steal. "I'm looking for someone who made me jealous that they weren't on my team," he said. "So make me jealous, and I'll steal you."
Harrison is the first man to advance to Team Legend following this season's Battle Rounds. He joins Kim Cruse, Valarie Harding, Emma Brooke, Morgan Taylor, Parijita Bastola, and The Marilynds. And with just one Battle Round left before Knockouts, we're that much closer to seeing who will advance to Live Shows.
Watch The Voice on NBC Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c and next day on Peacock.
