Kate Hudson Shows Off Her Spectacular Voice Covering This Ariana Grande Classic
She gave a doo-wop treatment to Grande's 2019 anthem "7 Rings." Listen here—and enjoy more of these moments on NBC's That's My Jam.
If you're familiar with Kate Hudson's career, then you know she can sing. While the actress doesn't have a ton of musical credits to her name, she does have one that's pretty significant: The 2009 movie-musical Nine, in which she performs the upbeat, glittery number "Cinema Italiano." She sounds beautiful in the film—but if you missed it, her impressive pipes may come as a surprise.
That was the case for many fans when they saw Hudson perform Ariana Grande's "7 Rings" during an episode of That's My Jam on NBC last year. During the "Musical Genre" challenge, Hudson was asked to perform the 2019 hit in a doo-wop style, and she completely nailed it. She also sounded technically phenomenal, which, like we said, stunned many.
“You’d be shocked to see who comes in and scores,” That's My Jam Host Jimmy Fallon told Billboard about the That's My Jam Contestants who perhaps aren't known for their singing abilities. “Everyone we had on has a secret thing. They can all sing. Kate Hudson is amazing, by the way. I always knew she was musical, but I didn’t know if she could really sing–she could really sing.”

That's My Jam is currently in its second season, and many celebrities have come to play. The roster for Season 2 includes Chloe & Halle Bailey, Kelsea Ballerini, Jabari Banks, Alexa Bliss, Big Boi, Quinta Brunson, Chance The Rapper, Darren Criss, Jason DeRulo, Jenna Dewan, Renee Elise Goldsberry, Nikki Glaser, Taraji P. Henson, Sarah Hyland, Kesha, Patti LaBelle, Adam Lambert, Simu Liu, Joel McHale, Julia Michaels, French Montana, Keke Palmer, Jay Pharoah, Billy Porter, Diallo Riddle, Craig Robinson, Bashir Salahuddin, Nicole Scherzinger, JoJo Siwa, John Stamos, Kenan Thompson, Mike “The Miz”, Quavo, Will.I.Am, and Saweetie.
Sarah Hyland 's performance was particularly memorable. She competed in "Wheel of Musical Impressions" and did a hilariously spot-on Avril Lavigne voice to sing Christina Aguilera's "Genie in a Bottle."
