Kelly Clarkson's Voice Remains Perfect on Her Cover of Olivia Rodrigo's 'Traitor'
A powerful song covered by a powerful singer!
Kellyoke fans are in for a real treat this time! On October 12, Kelly Clarkson performed a powerful interpretation of a fellow pop star’s heartfelt tune. She covered “Traitor” by Olivia Rodrigo, a song about deep heartbreak, and we couldn’t be more proud.
The performance started out with some gentle guitar chords and slow synths as Clarkson sang softly in front of deep blue lighting. “You talked to her, maybe did even worse, I kept quiet so I could keep you,” she crooned with emotion in her voice. The track then picked up as the lyrics grew in intensity. “Ain’t it funny, all the twisted games and questions you used to avoid,” she sang.
Then, when the chorus hit, Clarkson let it all out in her signature style. “You betrayed me, and I know that you’ll never feel sorry,” she belted, the emotion in her voice apparent. “Loved you at your worst, but that didn’t matter,” she sang with passion while directly looking into the camera and giving us chills.
Then, during the outro, the backup singers joined in while the guitarist played a sharp riff. “God, I wish that you had thought this through, before I went and fell in love with you. Guess you didn’t cheat, but you’re still a traitor” she sang, hitting a powerful sustained note and ending with a vulnerable, breathy tone.
