Kieran Culkin kicked off the 97th Oscars with a charming, off-the-cuff acceptance speech when he won Best Supporting Actor for his performance in A Real Pain.

How to Watch

Watch The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on NBC weeknights at 11:35/10:35c and next day on Peacock

When Culkin visited The Tonight Show weeks before Hollywood's biggest night on February 6, Jimmy Fallon asked the actor if he was going to prepare a speech for the Academy Awards.

Culkin told him, "No, I can't do that. I don't know how to..."

Culkin was one of the few probable locks leading into Oscars night, after picking up multiple awards throughout the season for his portrayal of Benji in the film written and directed by Jesse Eisenberg.

"I can't rehearse the thing. If I think about it the day before... Like in the past, I've thought about it, I'll be in the shower, getting nervous," he explained. "And I realize, I've been in the shower for an hour and a half just trying to calm down, think about what to say. And then you get there and you don't win, and you feel like an idiot."

"Or you win, and then I'm up there and now I'm panicked because I have this rehearsed thing and I don't know how to do it. So I realized I just can't think about it at all," Culkin admitted.

"Let's all not think about it," Fallon jokingly told the audience, as Culkin echoed, "Nobody think about it."

Kieran Culkin's wife Jazz Charton promised him a fourth kid if he won an Oscar

Culkin was the first winner of the night at the 97th Academy Awards on Sunday, March 2. During his adorable acceptance speech for Best Supporting Actor, he shouted out his Succession co-star Jeremy Strong — who was also nominated in the category.

He also took the moment to remind his wife, Jazz Charton, of a pact they made if he were to ever win an Oscar.

"About a year ago, I was on a stage like this, and I very stupidly publicly said that I want a third kid from her because she said if I won the award she would give me the kid," Culkin said during his speech.

"Turns out she said that because she didn't think I was going to win... Anyway, after the show we're walking through a parking lot, we were trying to find our car... and she goes, 'Oh God, I did say that, I guess I owe you a third kid,'" he continued. "And I turned to her, and I said 'Really, I want four,' and she turned to me, I swear to God to this happened, she said 'I will give you four when you win an Oscar.'"

"I held my hand out, she shook it, and I have not brought it up once until just now," Culkin said, before addressing his wife who was in the audience. "I just have this to say to you, Jazz, love of my life, ye of little faith, no pressure, I love you. I'm really sorry I did this again, and let's get cracking on those kids, what do you say? I love you!"
