Why Heidi Klum Called Kodi Lee 'the Ultimate All-Star' After His Final Performance
The AGT 14 winner's cover of a David Bowie hit brought everyone to their feet.
February 20th's episode of America's Got Talent: All-Stars was yet another reminder of why Kodi Lee took home the win during Season 14 of AGT.
Soon after the 26-year-old musical prodigy—who's blind and has autism—auditioned this season with Calum Scott's "Biblical" and snagged the the 11th and last spot in the All-Stars finals, he performed yet again for a chance at a second victory.
This time, Lee sang an emotional cover of David Bowie's 1977 track, "Heroes." Following the performance, his mother, Tina Lee, revealed the reason behind his song choice.
"We picked this song actually because we feel that you guys are our heroes," she said.
The Judges were delighted by Lee's performance and couldn't help but give him a standing ovation. "I think you're amazing, and that song," Howie Mandel said. "The lyric is, 'We can be heroes just for one day.' And Kodi, you're a hero everyday. You really are."
Heidi Klum said, "You shine so bright on that stage, and when I think about America's Got Talent, when I think about All-Stars, you are the ultimate All-Star."
Lastly, Simon Cowell added, "That was just stunning, honestly stunning. I mean, boy. That lyric took on a whole new meaning for us just then. And you have something really, really special about you, Kodi. You have this real gift, and every time you perform, there's just silence. Everyone's focused and listening to every word, and then when we wonder what you're gonna do with the song, and then you hit those big notes."
Will this be enough for the Superfans to vote for Kodi Lee to win during the finale, which airs Monday, February 27? We'll just have to wait and see, but in the meantime, Lee is maintaining his positive outlook on the future.
"I've been working really hard," he told People magazine. "I'm an AGT superstar. And if you keep working really hard, anything's possible."
Tina added, "I never ever imagined him being where he is today, and that's amazing. I really don't even have the words for how that makes me feel, other than he's a blessing. It makes me feel like he is an angel on this earth, here to change the world."
Watch the AGT: All-Stars finale Monday, February 27 at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.
