Kodi Lee's Switches it Up with a Smooth R&B Cover of BROCKHAMPTON's "Sugar"

While Kodi Lee typically looks to pop hits and the classic when it comes to his covers, he recently shook things up by covering a slow-jam hip hop hit.

On November 9, the America's Got Talent Season 14 winner shared a clip of him singing "Sugar" by BROCKHAMPTON, and the cover was totally on point.

During his rendition, Lee played some groovy piano chords, and his voice sounded silky smooth while he riffed away.

What to know about "Sugar" by BROCKHAMPTON

Released as a single off of the hip-hop boy band's 2019 album Ginger, "Sugar" reached the number 66 position on the Billboard Hot 100 Charts. Lyrically, the song tells the story of a co-dependent relationship. 

The song features vocals from singer Ryan Beatty, and the track was praised by critics. In 2022, Variety listed it at the 3rd best BROCKHAMPTON song, praising its "effortless melodies" and "maddeningly, irresistibly sweet" hook.
