Mandy Moore Warns Fans the Last This Is Us Episodes Are 'a Lot'
There are only three episodes left of the sixth and final season of This Is Us.
After six seasons, we're just a few weeks away from the series finale of This Is Us. And according to Mandy Moore (Rebecca), fans are in for a ride.
In an Instagram Story from May 6th, the actress told her followers "the next three [episodes of This Is Us] are a lot. Just warning you."
While that doesn't tell us much about what to expect, Moore's cryptic words align with other tidbits we've heard about what's to come. In April at the 2022 PaleyFest, show creator Dan Fogelman revealed Moore had an extremely intense physical reaction after reading the show's penultimate episode.
"It made Mandy throw up," Fogelman said, to which Moore responded, "It was so beautiful and upsetting that that was my physical reaction."
Chrissy Metz (Kate) said she "couldn't breathe" after reading it, adding, "You can't catch your breath, and then you really can't breathe because your nose is stuffed. I told Dan, 'I need some help. I need some Advil.'"
Specifically in regards to Rebecca, whose Alzheimer's we've seen progress with each episode, series writer Kay Oyegun told NBC Insider there's no way to sugarcoat what's coming. "Objectively, unapologetically, it’s going to get bad," Oyegun said. "Point-blank, period. This is a disease that kills many people, ruins many families... So it was important to Dan Fogelman and to us as writers to show that and give that. Because the minute the light bulb goes out, there is no coming back from it."
Season 6, Episode 15 also dropped the bomb that Miguel (Jon Huertas) dies before Rebecca. Not only was Miguel the second love of her life, he was also the matriarch's main caretaker and closest companion.
"[Mandy's] always done her research in regards to what state [of Alzheimer's] Rebecca's in and how it affects her and how her body would be, her mental state, her emotional state," Huertas tells us. "Everything is so affected with Alzheimer’s. It is 'gonna get worse, and it’s 'gonna be very sad. It’s hard to see someone go from this—'cause me and Mandy are time-travelers [on this show]—vibrant woman with this amazing smile, great mother, a great wife to her husband, Jack. To see someone become this shell of who she was, it’s very sad. I hope people are ready to see."
This Is Us airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
