All About Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra's Fairytale Romance — and Their "Beautiful" Family Life
Former The Voice Coach Nick Jonas and actress Priyanka Chopra called their connection "instantaneous" — so much so they were married within months of their first date.
With becoming a teen heartthrob with his brothers, a thriving career as a solo artist, and even stint as a Coach on The Voice, Nick Jonas has stayed busy — but that hasn’t stopped him from marrying the love of his life and starting a beautiful family.
Jonas just gave his wife, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, an Instagram shoutout for her 41st birthday on July 18, writing, “I love celebrating you. Happy birthday my love.”
How Did Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra Meet?
The couple first publicly announced their whirlwind romance in 2018, and also got married later that same year.
“It was kind of an instant thing,” Jonas told Entertainment Tonight. “I knew once we locked in together that I had a partner for life, and a teammate — someone I could walk through the good times and bad times with, and that was the key.”
The two first met in 2016 at Vanity Fair’s Oscars party, and say their connection was immediate.
“I put my drink down, get on one knee — this is in front of a bunch of people — and I say, ‘You’re real. Where have you been all my life?’ Like, loud,” Jonas told ET.
Chopra was similarly in awe.
“It was such a Prince Charming moment,” she said on The Howard Stern Show, according to ET. “It was like time stopped. And also, he was so hot and I didn’t know him … it was really like a meet-cute from a movie. He just held my hand, and I turned around and he was in a suit and he goes down on his knees, and I think time stopped.”
The two began texting and Jonas asked her on a few dates, but she told ET she initially turned him down because she’d just been through a breakup.
The two met again at the 2017 Met Gala, but it wasn’t until May 2018 that he convinced her to go on a date with him.
“He was smart. He told me, ‘I have a few tickets. I’m going with my friends if you would like to come,’” Chopra told ET. "So, he disarmed me by not having the pressure of just him and I. He had three of his friends. I brought a friend of mine. We went to see Beauty and the Beast at the Hollywood Bowl. It was beautiful.”

The couple announced their engagement in July 2018, with Chopra telling ET, “when you know, you know.”
The wedding itself that December was ultra chic, with two separate ceremonies: a Christian ceremony, and a Hindu ceremony. Chopra stunned in a custom Ralph Lauren gown for the Christian ceremony, with a huge 75-foot-long-tulle veil, according to Entertainment Tonight. That embroidery took 1,826 hours to complete.
The dress underneath the top layer was made up of more than 2.3 million mother of pearl sequins.
Do Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra have a daughter?
The former Voice Coach and the actress welcomed their daughter, Malti, in January 2022 via a surrogate. The couple and their baby had a difficult journey, with Malti spending more than 100 days in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) before she was able to go home, according to PEOPLE.
Jonas posted their first public family snapshot on his Instagram on Mother’s Day 2022.
“Every family’s journey is unique, and requires a certain level of faith, and while ours was a challenging few months, what becomes abundantly clear, in retrospect, is how precious and perfect every moment is,” Jonas wrote in the post, while also calling Chopra an “incredible mother.”
He shared a snapshot on Instagram of him and Malti celebrating his first father’s day in June 2022. The two have matching kicks, with his saying “MM’s Dad.”
Jonas also posted a photo of him and his daughter in June 2023, where he looked down at her lovingly in his arms.
“She’s a gift, and we’re just so blessed,” Jonas said on Today, according to PEOPLE. “Life is beautiful.”
