Don't Want to Miss a Moment of Olympics Action? Check Out These Peacock Interactive Features
Catching all your favorite events this summer just got a whole lot easier.
We can’t wait for the action-packed 2024 Olympic Games set against the magnificent backdrop of Paris. But if the thought of navigating the 329 medaled events across 18 days leaves your head spinning — not to worry! Peacock is pulling out all the technological stops to make sure you don’t miss any exciting moments or unexpected twists and turns. Fans will be able to enjoy industry-first interactive features to curate their personal viewing experiences and get the most out of NBC's 5,000 hours of live coverage
Those new features, introduced Wednesday at NBCUniversal’s One24 technology conference, include an extensive Olympics hub, complete with "curated rails of live and upcoming events, dedicated in-depth hubs for nearly 40 sports, medal standings and an interactive schedule," according to a release from the company. Peacock also highlighted two additional features – Peacock Live Actions and Peacock Discovery Multiview – that will allow fans to engage with the sports they love and discover unforgettable moments across the roughly two-week event.
“The Paris Olympics will mark another major milestone for Peacock’s leadership in live streaming with an unprecedented viewing experience that demonstrates our commitment to our customers, clients and partners,” Kelly Campbell, President, Peacock and Direct-to-Consumer, NBCUniversal, said in the release. “Following the Games, these new features will extend to other live events, joining the growing list of interactive elements and ad innovations that continue to set Peacock apart.”

Here's a closer look at what’s in store.
Peacock Live Actions
With so much awe-inspiring action happening all at once during the Olympics, Peacock knows choices matter. Fans will be able to choose their own viewing journey during live and primetime coverage so they can follow the events they’re most interested in watching.
Chances are, we’ll all be tuned into Peacock’s Gold Zone, a live whip-around program airing from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET each day during the Games (from July 26 through August 11) that will guide viewers into and out of the day's most dramatic moments and events. But through Live Action on-screen prompts, viewers will be given an easy option to continue watching the live feed of a specific event instead of heading back to the Gold Zone. The Live Actions also lets viewers watching the NBC Primetime simulcast add upcoming events to their “My Stuff” list to watch later.
Peacock Discovery Multiview
It’s one of the most vexing issues with the Olympics: simultaneous events. And this summer, there will be up to 40 live events happening at the same time. Enter Peacock Discovery Multiview, which turns your regular old smart TV into an enhanced four-view experience that will include real-time descriptions on-screen from NBCU’s Olympic experts detailing exactly what's at stake at that moment, such as whether it’s a medal event, elimination risk, or if there's a first-time athlete realizing their Olympic dream.
There will also be a traditional multiview experience for sports such as soccer, track and field, and wrestling, that will feature up to four events on one screen. Both options allow users to navigate around your four-screen multi-verse, switch the audio, and click through to watch one event only.
Peacock will be the first standalone streaming app to offer a multiview experience across smart TVs, streaming devices, web browsers and tablets.
What can we expect from Peacock’s Olympics Hub?
Whether you’re a rabid Olympics fan or just a casual watcher, the new Peacock Olympics Hub is, well, game-changing. A suite of new features makes navigation easier than ever.
Perhaps most importantly, the most popular and biggest events will be displayed in a Spotlight right at the top of your screen, visible as soon as you enter the Olympics hub.
But fans can also quickly find specific live events in a “Browse by Sport” rail, which will include highlights and replays.
Looking for your favorite athlete, like gymnast Simone Biles or basketball player A’ja Wilson? A new “Search by Star Athlete” feature will help you find their live events as well as replays, whether they're individual athletes or competing as part of a team. As during previous Olympics, fans can also search by sport, event, and team, including country names and three-letter country codes.
An enhanced Interactive Schedule allows watchers to plan their viewing day-by-day, join live events, catch replays, and store events in “My Stuff” to catch later. Other exciting developments include the all-important Medal Standings (sponsored by Delta) as well as Peacock’s award-winning “Catch Up with Key Plays,” which gets you up to speed if you tune in mid-game. This will now be available for basketball and golf, in addition to soccer.
And on top of that, Peacock is putting your favorite game-day snacks a click away, so you don't miss a moment of Olympic action. NBCUniversal announced Wednesday that Virtual Concessions will launch during the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games so that fans can purchase food, beverages, and other items to be delivered to their doorsteps without interrupting their viewing experience. And after the Olympics, the same service will remain in place, making it easier to enjoy highly anticipated sporting events or movie marathons. No news yet on whether Peacock will also gather up your friends and family. For now, you'll have to take care of that part.
NBC and Peacock will present live coverage of the Opening Ceremony on Friday, July 26, beginning at noon ET. Telemundo will provide Spanish-language coverage beginning at 1 p.m. ET. Primetime coverage will begin at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT on NBC and Peacock.
