Youssef is also the creator, writer, and star of Ramy, a three-season comedy series on Hulu that's loosely based on his own life as an Egyptian-American raised in a New Jersey Muslim community. In 2020, Youssef earned two Emmy nominations, Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series and Outstanding Directing For A Comedy Series, for Ramy. He won a Golden Globe for lead actor in a comedy series that same year.
As a director, Youssef also helmed a particularly memorable episode of 2023 television: "Honeydew" from The Bear Season 2. In 2024, Youssef will release the follow-up to his 2019 comedy special, Ramy Youssef: Feelings, the aptly titled More Feelings, on HBO.
