John Larroquette pays tribute to the late Richard Moll
Moll's Night Court co-star, John Larroquette, who plays lawyer Dan Fielding in both the original and revival version of Night Court, took to his social media to pay tribute to the late actor.
“Charles Richard Moll 1943-2023 Larger than life and taller too. We first worked together on Mork and Mindy and then we spent nearly a decade helping Judge Harry Stone and the Night Court world come to life. My condolences and heart felt sympathy to his family and loved ones,” Larroquette wrote on X (formely Twitter).

The original Night Court series has had multiple of its cast members pass away in recent years. Harry Anderson, who played the main character Judge Harry T Stone, died in 2018 at the age of 65. Markie post, who played public defender Christine Sullivan, passed away of cancer in 2021. Charles Robinson, who played Clerk Mac Robinson, also died that year at the age of 75.
Given his height and deep voice, Moll was frequently cast as intimidating characters. In 1983, he played the role of warrior Hurok in the sci-fi film Metalstorm: The Destruction of Jared-Syn. Moll shaved his head for the role, and used the same look to audition for Night Court.
“They said ‘Richard, the shaved head looks good. Will you shave your head for the part?” Moll said in a 2010 interview at the 8th annual TV Land awards. “I said, ‘Are you kidding? I’ll shave my legs for the part. I’ll shave my armpits, I don’t care.'”
Moll was also known for his voiceover work, as he has voiced Two-Face in Batman: The Animated Series and The New Batman Adventures.
Rest in peace, Richard.
