Sam Heughan Tells Jimmy Fallon What It's Like Going Commando Under a Kilt
The Outlander actor and Clanlands author also fixed Jimmy Fallon a cocktail during his October 18 visit to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Sam Heughan is famously proud of his Scottish heritage: The actor's played one of TV's most famous Scots, Jamie Fraser, on Outlander since 2014, has his own Scotch whisky brand, and has now released a second book with fellow Scot and former Outlander costar Graham McTavish, Clanlands in New Zealand. Heughan stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on October 18 to talk about his adventures making Clanlands and more.
Then, he made Jimmy Fallon a cocktail. What a gentleman!
Fallon shared a recent photo snapped of Heughan wearing a traditional Scottish kilt in the streets of New York City, and another of Heughan and McTavish wearing kilts while standing on a glacier.
This prompted Heughan to reveal that he keeps it very traditional under that kilt.

"I claim to be the first person in commando on a glacier," Heughan said of the breezy experience.

Heughan also shared the odd jobs he had before he started landed acting roles (Heughan also co-starred with Priyanka Chopra in the 2023 romance Love Again). "I delivered sandwiches by bicycle," he said, "I worked in Harrod's, sold women's clothing."
He was also a perfume salesman (anyone in the UK remember getting spritzed by Sam Heughan?) and a self-described "barman," working at an Irish pub in Scotland.
"I wore a flatcap and a very dodgy accent," Heughan said.
"You pretended to be Irish?!" Fallon said.
"To be sure," Heughan answered in a sort-of brogue. "And I poured a terrible pint of Guinness!"
Liquor is more of Hueghan's thing—and as such, he brought Fallon a bottle of his Sassenach Wild Scottish gin. To sample it, Heughan fixed Fallon a cocktail that involved...a raw egg.
So how'd it taste? Judging by Fallon's hilarious expression, Heughan's still more of an actor, author, and entrepreneur than a bartender.
