Selena Gomez & Benny Blanco Detail How They Got Engaged: "She Almost Didn't..."
The Emilia Pérez actress explains how she unknowingly almost bailed on Blanco's planned proposal during their joint interview.
"It was the scariest week of my life," music producer Benny Blanco says of the stressful days leading up to his proposal to girlfriend Selena Gomez.
The engagement was a surprise for Gomez — who didn't see it coming, as she explained during her joint interview with Blanco on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon from March 20.

Selena Gomez "freaked out" when Benny Blanco proposed to her
Gomez said the proposal wasn't something she'd foreseen happening that day, because they had an already-packed schedule.
"We had to do a lot of promo for the album," Gomez explained, referring to their new collaborative album, I Said I Love You First. "So I woke up, and I was very confused on what was happening, on where we were going because it seemed kind of far. So I'm kind of a little grumpy."
"I'm like, 'I really am tired. This is too far!' So then I tell him, I say, 'After this shoot, I'm gonna go hang out with my friends,'" the Emilia Pérez actress continued. "And he starts going, 'Uh, okay, sure. We'll, you know... We'll see when you get here.'"
"She almost didn't even come"
With Gomez attempting to bail, Blanco began to worry that his proposal plans were about to be ruined.
"Of course I'm freaking out. She was mad. She almost didn't even come," he told Jimmy Fallon. "She was like, 'I really don't feel that well. I think I'm just gonna stay home today. Can't we just make up the shoot another day?'"
"First of all, getting engaged to someone is the craziest thing in the world," Blanco pointed out. "It's like, right before you're gonna tell someone you're gonna be married to them forever, they're like, 'Show me how good you can lie to me.'"
"It's the hardest thing in the world. It's so hard. I tell her everything, so she was just upset with me because the day before, I was, like, making bad lies," he recalled.
Blanco revealed he had hidden the ring in a bag he didn't think Gomez would go in — but he was still stressed about the upcoming proposal.

"It was the scariest week of my life," he confessed during his March 20 Tonight Show visit. The proposal went off without a hitch — with Gomez saying "yes" — but the actual moment is a little blurry for both parties.
"No. I freaked out. I forgot everything," Gomez told Fallon, as Blanco added, "Instantly."
The proposal might be a little hazy, but the two now have marriage and their new music on the mind.
