Hear Stee’s Adam Levine-Esque High Notes That Made John Legend Block Niall Horan
Adam Levine may no longer be a Coach, but his influence lives on!
Adam Levine may no longer be a Coach on The Voice, but his influence continues to live on.
South Carolina-based contestant Stee proved that on Monday night's episode with a soulful rendition of Maroon 5's "Sugar," which prompted an almost immediate Chair Turn from John Legend. Fellow Coaches Gwen Stefani and Reba followed suit not long after, but Niall Horan's attempt to join the fray was blocked by Legend.

"This makes me so upset," said a flustered-looking Horan, jokingly accusing Legend of having "a vendetta" against him.
"Life isn't always gonna be easy for you, Niall," Legend replied with a cheeky smile. "We all have adversity, we all have challenges, we all get blocked — you know?"
Turning to address Stee, he continued: "Singing a song sung by Adam Levine is a challenge because he is one of our more gifted pop singers in the world. He actually sat in this chair and the fact that you convinced all of us that you could pull off Adam Levine's song is pretty amazing."
Stee then made an emotional confession: his cousin and John Legend super-fan, Matthew, was supposed to be cheering him on backstage, but had tragically passed away three weeks before filming took place. "So I dedicate this entire thing to him," he declared. "And I'm supposed to say, 'John! I want to introduce you to my cousin, Matthew!' I just wanted to say thank you so much for giving so much to Matthew. You really, really helped him get through some tough times."
Suffice it to say, he chose to be a part of Team Legend and what's more: John made it clear that he won't be intimidated by a cocky young upstart like Niall Horan. "This young whippersnapper comes to The Voice and wins his first season. He thinks he's the king over here, but I'm the OG. This is my eighth season and I'm not letting him take the throne."
We're only three episodes into the new season and things are really heating up!
