Maya Hawke just took The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon back to high school.

How to Watch

Watch The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on NBC weeknights at 11:35/10:35c and next day on Peacock

On February 28, the Stranger Things actress performed her new single, "Missing Out," from her upcoming album, Chaos Angel.

Hawke was serving high school chic, dressed in a varsity jacket and plaid skirt, with her backing band staying on theme as various school stereotypes (the jock, science nerd, and recent graduate sporting a cap and gown). During the performance, Hawke even sits and takes a bite out of an apple. Talk about teacher's pet!

In the lead single, Hawke, who is famously the daughter of actors Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman, doesn't shy away from the "nepo baby" accusations.

"I was born with my foot in the door/ And my mind in the gutter/ And my guts on the floor," Hawke sings.

In a video posted to The Tonight Show's Instagram, Hawke also catches Host Jimmy Fallon backstage filming a bowl of ice cream while wearing a Scoops Ahoy hat, much like the one Hawke sported on Netflix's megahit sci-fi series.

"What are you doing? That's like a reference from two seasons ago, and it's not even what this is about," she tells Fallon in the clip.

"Look at my jacket," she says, showing off her Chaos Angel apparel. Hawke then demands the hat, which she puts on and reluctantly admits that it "actually kind of matches" her outfit.

This isn't the first time Hawke has appeared on The Tonight Show stage. Back in March 2023 she performed "Thérèse," off of her previous album, Moss, and instead of school uniforms, she served royalty realness, wearing a sparkly star crown and velvet gown.

Avoid FOMO by checking out her new album, Chaos Angel, which is out May 31.
