Susan Boyle's Spellbinding Cover of "Hallelujah" Is a Total Revelation

The Britain's Got Talent alum's take on the Leonard Cohen classic is something you need to hear.

By Christopher Rosa

There really isn't a song that Susan Boyle can't knock out of the park.

How to Watch

Watch America’s Got Talent on NBC and Peacock

The Britain's Got Talent alum made her mark in 2009 auditioning for the show with "I Dreamed a Dream" from Les MisérablesHowever, in the years that have followed, we've seen her tackle everything from Madonna to Tina Turner and nail it every single time.

That said, sentimental ballads are really Boyle's sweet spot. Songs like "Away in a Manger" and "O Holy Night" just feel more special with her vocals on them. So when Boyle decided to cover the Leonard Cohen staple "Hallelujah," we knew we were in for something spectacular.

Don't believe us? Listen to Boyle's version of the song further down this article, and become transformed.

About "Hallelujah" by Leonard Cohen

"Hallelujah" appears on Cohen's 1984 album Various Positions. It's been covered many times but gained particular attention when John Cale and Rufus Wainwright's versions appeared in the Shrek (2001) movie and soundtrack, respectively.
