Taylor Kinney Reflects on 10 Years of Chicago Fire: 'Times Have Changed'
"The city has been good to me."
Taylor Kinney spoke with Al Roker on The Today Show in October about his time on Chicago Fire, where he's played Kelly Severide since 2012, when the show first premiered. If you can't do the math, that means he's been a part of series for 10 years, all of which he looks back on fondly.
“This is home.” Kinney said regarding the city of Chicago. “Times have changed, and the city has changed, and people have grown.”
As fans waved to him in the background during the interview, Kinney remarked, “The city has been good to me. I love the city. I’ve gotten to know it through my work."

Roker applauded Kinney's work and noted that he's somebody who appreciates “what he’s got, where he’s come from, and where he is. And Kinney responded with nothing but gratitude.
Of course, this isn't the only time Kinney has expressed his appreciation for Chicago Fire publicly. "It’s never lost on me how special it is to be a part of something with the longevity this has," Kinney told Us Weekly in May 2022. "It’s a testament to [show creator] Dick Wolf and the team of people he puts together.”
Now a few episodes into Season 11, Chicago Fire is already supplying us with plenty of drama, romance, and action-packed rescue scenes, all the things we've come to love from it.
