The This Is Us Cast Celebrating Their 100th Episode Will Make You Smile
"It's just a joy to be able to do something that you love with people that you love," said Sterling K. Brown.
This Is Us fans have a lot to be happy about. Not only is Season 6 back after a two-week hiatus, we're getting A+ social media content from the cast, who just celebrated filming their 100th episode (!) on Tuesday, February 22.
Sterling K. Brown (Randall) captured the festivities on Instagram Live and opened up about his experience filming the show.
"This is really, really cool, because yesterday my wife's [Ryan Michelle Bathe] first episode of The Endgame premiered on NBC, and today the cast, crew, and executives of This Is Us celebrate 100 episodes of our show," Brown said. "It's just a joy to be able to do something that you love with people that you love. With people that are kind and good and want to do something with the art form that we have, right? And something to entertain, to educate, to uplift. It's been a great, great show."
In an Instagram post, Chris Sullivan (Toby) shared a cast photo taken at the 100th episode party. Brown, showrunner Dan Fogelman, Milo Ventimiglia (Jack), Chrissy Metz (Kate), Mandy Moore (Rebecca), Justin Hartley (Kevin), and more of your favorites are all smiles standing behind a sizable This Is Us cake decorated with show memorabilia made into fondant.
Close-up shots Sullivan posted show the details. Kevin's Manny script! Rebecca's crescent moon necklace! Beth's ballet slippers! "#ThisIsUs 100th Episode cake cutting today! #ItsAllInTheDetails #ThisIsUsFinalChapter," Sullivan wrote in a caption.
Metz took to her Instagram Stories to share videos of co-stars Sullivan, Logan Shroyer (teen Kevin), and Niles Fitch (teen Randall) marveling at the cake. She also shared a snap of a flower bouquet she received in honor of the special day. "100 roses. One for every episode of @NBCThisIsUs," she wrote.
The 100th episode of This Is Us won't air for a few more weeks—but Moore recently offered a hint of what's to come. During an appearance on the Kelly Clarkson Show on February 22, she opened up about her character and Pearson matriarch, Rebecca.
"In present day, she's dealing with dementia, with Alzheimer's, so it's quite heartbreaking" Moore said. "But I love that we're able to have this conversation and hopefully de-stigmatize the conversation around Alzheimer's. [We're] including the family and all of the decisions everyone as a unit collectively has to make together. I'm so excited that we get to wrap up this story in a really beautiful way, and I think people are gonna be happy with us [and] the way we stick the landing."
Moore also told Clarkson it humbles her looking back at filming This Is Us for the past six seasons. "I'm so grateful we've had the opportunity, that people have been interested in the show from the very beginning and come along on this journey with us for the last six years," she said. "The conversations we've been able to elicit are so important. It's been the greatest gift to be a part of something that's so cathartic and emotional."
This Is Us airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
