Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani Take Playful Competition to the Next Level in The Voice Season 22
The honeymoon is over for the married Coaches, as Gwen declares "we're gonna fight" this season.
The Voice Coaches can get quite competitive when selecting their team of Artists, but married Coaches Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani take the playful competition to the next level.
The countdown to the premiere of Season 22 of The Voice has begun, and fans are jonesing to see the new lineup of Coaches in action. Longtime Coaches Shelton and John Legend will return to the red chairs, accompanied by first-time Voice Coach Camila Cabello and returning Coach Stefani.
Fans are particularly excited to see Shelton and Stefani in the red chairs this season after the powerhouse couple tied the knot last year. Shelton and Stefani's relationship began thanks to The Voice, but Season 22 will mark the first time fans can enjoy two newlyweds battling it out for the win.
In a new promo for Season 22, Stefani and Shelton duke it out during the Blind Auditions to collect a group of Artists that will lead to the Season 22 victory. Legend warns an Artist, "You got to pick between these two lovely people that happen to be married to each other." At which point, Shelton leans over to ask, "You think I'm lovely?"
Newbie Coach Camilla asks the newlyweds the question that many fans are also wondering, "Have you guys made a rule that you won't get into real fights?" Shelton quickly responds, "No." Stefani teasingly echoes this statement by approaching Shelton's red chair and announcing, "We're gonna fight!"
In another clip, Stefani is seen admiring an Artist, telling them, "You're incredible. I'd love to coach you." The tender moment is cut short when Shelton uses his block on Stefani, immediately shutting down her hopes of the Artist joining Team Gwen. "Are you serious?" a flabbergasted Stefani asks. "Mute her microphone," Shelton whispers to the production team, causing his fellow Coaches to burst out in laughter.
The Voice always boasts outrageously high stakes, and Season 22 seems to be one of the most competitive seasons yet. While Shelton and Stefani may be blissfully happy at home, both Coaches seem to be ditching the honeymoon phase as they sit in the red chairs and compete for the honor of coaching the Season 22 winner of The Voice.
