Taylor Swift Had a Mic Drop Reaction to Singing in SNL’s “Three Sad Virgins” Sketch
The Please Don't Destroy boys revealed the pop star was almost *too* ready to roast to them.
When John Higgins, Martin Herlihy, and Ben Marshall of Please Don’t Destroy came to Taylor Swift with an idea for a Saturday Night Live digital short, they had no idea the pop star would instantly agree.
Not long after the comedy trio joined SNL’s writing staff in Season 47, they struck internet gold with the musical pretaped sketch “Three Sad Virgins” featuring then-cast member Pete Davidson. The video has racked up over 19 million views on YouTube since it premiered during the November 13, 2021 episode.

With Swift as the episode's Musical Guest, the Please Don’t Destroy guys shot for the stars when they asked the Grammy winner to ruthlessly roast them in the viral music video. Watch the sketch above.
Taylor Swift hilariously roasts Please Don’t Destroy in SNL's “Three Sad Virgins”
The “Three Sad Virgins” digital short starts off with the guys in their office greeting Davidson. “Yo, Pete man!” Higgins yells while Herlihy pretends to tip his hat and says in a British accent, “The king of Staten Island himself.”
“I had this idea where maybe we could do a music video about how we’re all like best friends and how we’re like boys,” Davidson pitches them.
Higgins, Herlihy, and Marshall immediately agree, kicking off a music video with Davidson rapping about his glamorous life as a famous celebrity. And then... promptly ripping on his boys.
“All my friends are cool and famous. Except these three sad virgins,” Davidson raps and then sings in the chorus, “Three sad virgins, what? Three sad virgins, whoa.”
Sitting together on a couch, the guys call for a time-out. “Quick question, is this about us?” Higgins asks Davidson, who assures them it’s “just a parody video” and they’re “just playing characters.” Nobody will think it’s about them — except the lyrics get super specific.
As Davidson continues to rap: “Their names are Martin, Ben and John. And they work at the show I'm on. They just don't have any swag. They're tall and weird and sad.”
After more shock, confusion, and a pitch to make it about something timely like Dune, Swift appears towards the end of the music video for the song’s non-negotiable bridge.

“Ben is like a sad Ron Weasley. He looks like if Big Bird lost all his feathers,” Swift sings while she dances around the guys. “And Martin has the charm and the sex appeal of a scarecrow. John has a big-ass bowling ball head. How does he stay upright with that big, fat melon? And none of them have the guts to take their shirts off in front of a girl.”
“Yeah, that's accurate,” Higgins chimes in.
"True," Marshal agrees.
“Three sad virgins, what? Three sad virgins, whoa. Three sad virgins, what?” Swift sings as Davidson joins her for the final lyric. “And they're gonna die alone.”
The “Three Sad Virgins” writers were surprised Taylor Swift agreed to be in the sketch
During a November 2023 appearance on The Tonight Show, the Please Don’t Destroy guys revealed to Jimmy Fallon that Swift needed very little convincing to appear in SNL’s “Three Sad Virgins” digital short.
“Was Taylor always involved in that?” Fallon asked Higgins, Herlihy, and Marshall.

"Well, we didn't think that she would do it,” Higgins said. “[SNL writer] Dan Bulla who wrote it with us was like, ‘We should have Taylor Swift do it.’ And we were like, ‘Yeah, obviously!’”
Higgins said that they told Swift about the sketch and she was instantly game. “We pitched it to her and we were like, ‘It’s called Three Sad Virgins. It’s you and Pete making fun of us.’ And she immediately was, like, ‘Yes.’ She was like ‘I get that about you guys,’” Higgins jokingly recalled.
“She was pitching more jokes making fun of us and we were like, ‘Okay, hang on,’” Marshall added.

Higgins also said they got a little extra attention after the sketch aired.
“But now every time we’re on the street, it’s like, ‘Hey! Sad virgin!’ Which is like, it’s not even true. We’re not sad,” Higgins said as The Tonight Show audience erupted in laughter.
SNL's "Three Sad Virgins" lyrics
Yo, it's Pete and PDD
Let's go
Another day in the life of Pete
Just sitting in a courtside seat
People wanna take my picture with selfie sticks
It winds up on Page Six
It's neverending
Everyday I'm trending
People wanna see the texts that I'm sending
All my friends are cool and famous
Except these three sad virgins
Three sad virgins, what?
Three sad virgins, whoa
Three sad virgins, what?
Three sad virgins, whoa
Their names are Martin, Ben and John
And they work at the show I'm on
They just don't have any swag
They're tall and weird and sad
John's loud but not very smart
Ben's breath kinda smells like a fart
And Martin's penis tip is way too red
At least, that's what his doctor said
Three sad virgins, what?
Three sad virgins, whoa
The planet Dune is very nice
It's a world that's made of spice
It's sandy like a playa
With Zendaya
I'm gonna ride a worm
And these guys suck
Three sad virgins, what?
Three sad virgins on Dune
Ben is like a sad Ron Weasley
He looks like if Big Bird lost all his feathers
And Martin has the charm and the sex appeal of a scarecrow
John has a big-ass bowling ball head
How does he stay upright with that big, fat melon?
And none of them have the guts to take their shirts off
In front of a girl
'Cause they're three sad virgins, what? (Whoa-oh-oh)
Three sad virgins, whoa
Three sad virgins, what?
Three sad virgins, whoa
Three sad virgins, what?
Three sad virgins, whoa
Three sad virgins, what?
And they're gonna die alone
