Where in Texas is Universal Kids Resort?
The new 97 acre park is being built in Frisco, Texas which is about 30 miles due north of Dallas and and 20 miles NW of Plano, Texas. Along with the Universal Kids Resort, there are also plans to have an adjacent themed hotel with room for expansion for the destination to grow. The groundbreaking for the theme park happened in November with work continuing into 2024.
When can I visit Universal Kids Resort?
Construction will be ongoing into 2024 and beyond so details on a Grand Opening and book reservations is still in the distance. But updates will be made available on their official website.
How is this different from other Universal theme parks?
Aside from the primary guest demographic being intentionally set much younger than standard theme parks, Universal Kids Resort is meant to cater to families with younger kids who are looking for fun that is more experiential than just standard rides. Think along the lines of a discovery museum with hands-on exhibits, mashed up with a water park, character meet and greet areas and a theme park with less aggressive rides. While the themed sections have not been announced yet (and are subject to change), the concept art shows a lush, green park with areas that will feature beloved characters from Universal films and shows.
If you've got teens or older in the house looking for thrill rides, then the Universal Studios theme parks in Hollywood and Orlando will be more their speed. But for families with younger children excited to try a theme park, this will be a great starter environment to test their comfort zones and play with other kids their age.
