Watch Boston Rob Meet His Match in This Deal or No Deal Island Preview
In this preview clip from the upcoming fourth episode of Deal or No Deal Island, Boston Rob faces off with a worthy opponent.
While most of the contestants on Deal or No Deal Island are unknowns, a couple of them have some past game show experience. Claudia Jordan was a former Briefcase Girl on the original Deal or No Deal, for instance, but it's Rob Mariano, aka “Boston Rob,” who is the most dangerous veteran by far. (Especially since Claudia got the boot in the previous episode.) Arguably the best Survivor player in the history of the long-running show, Rob has braved tropical island obstacles and navigated strategic group dynamics of the same sort Deal or No Deal Island adds to the classic series’ gameplay. That just makes it all the more exciting when a reality show rookie goes toe-to-toe with him.

In this preview for the fourth episode of Deal or No Deal Island, which airs this upcoming Monday at 10 p.m. on NBC, Rob faces off against Aron Barbell in a bluffing challenge. Aron, a 26-year-old accountant, initially seems like an awkward, timid sort of person, but so far this season, he’s demonstrated a keen mind for tactics and a cunning competitive spirit.
Although Rob has been trying to get Aron to view him as an ally — something that the younger competitor seems open to — Aron proves in this clip that he’s not just going to do everything the Survivor winner says. While all the other remaining contestants watch on, correctly assuming that Rob is trying win Aron's cooperation in the final face-off, he plays it cool as the pair recover a pair of briefcases.
Then, upon returning to the shore, it’s time to see which of their two teams will win based on whether Aron can successfully bluff Rob into picking the lower value of the two cases. Aron knows what he’s doing — he even takes off his glasses before opening the cases to prevent Rob from catching a glimpse of the amount inside on his lenses — and then it's a high-stakes battle of intuition.
